I was reading and reflecting today on the man Moses. He was human, just like I am am; just like you are. Yet he was a man who walked with God so closely that the Almighty Himself gave testimony of him: “This is My friend.”
My heart grew burdened as I pondered: How did Moses become such a man? How was he able to walk in such dimensions with God? How did he always obey every word God spoke? How did he attain such trust and intimacy with God would say to him, and the Scriptures would declare that he was the meekest man on earth?
I wonder as I read through his writings in Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy, not merely as words, but as the story of a man who led an entire people under the direct command of God. Every instruction, every blueprint for the ark, every commandment, Moses followed them to the letter. He was willing. He was yielded. He was obedient. He could have added his own ideas. He could have made alterations. But he did not. He followed every precept, every word, exactly as God commanded.
And I ask: How did he become such a man? Because today, we are tempted to add to what God has said. We renovate, reinvent, and reshape His instructions to fit our comfort or preference. Yet Moses did not. He simply obeyed.
So my heart keeps asking: How can we, as the people of God, walk in such yieldedness and obedience? Is it still possible today? Can men and women still live like that in this generation, not casually following God with the mind of the flesh, but walking in the Spirit with humility, meekness, trust, and absolute obedience?
I tell you , it is possible. God has given us Christ Jesus. He has given us His grace. He has given us His Holy Spirit. But it will cost us something. It will cost us our pride. It will cost us our comfort. It will cost us our will.
We must become a people dependent on God, a people who listen, who wait in silence, who yield, who treasure His voice above all. We must go where He sends, do what He commands, and keep our hearts yearning for His presence.
So I ask you today: In your walk with God, what are you willing to give up? What are you willing to lay down? What are you willing to sacrifice? When we come to Him, we must be transformed, not the same as before. We must have renewed minds, the mind of Christ, thinking on the things above where He is seated. Our heartbeat must match the heartbeat of God, yearning for His presence always.
Can you, like Moses, become a man or woman in your generation who points others to God? Can your life direct people to their Savior, their Redeemer, their Friend?
Think on these things. Pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you.
With love,
Chiamaka Augusta Jackson
