Fear Is Rebellion

I had never thought about it this way before that fear could actually be rebellion. But as God began to open my eyes through His Word, I started to see it clearly.

In the book of Revelation, the Bible lists “the fearful” among those who will be cast into the lake of fire. That verse used to trouble me. I wondered, Why would someone who is fearful be condemned? Isn’t fear just an emotion?

Fear is choosing not to do what God said because of what you see, hear, or feel.

Then the God began to teach me how fear is not just a feeling. Fear can become disobedience. It is choosing not to do what God said because of what we see, hear, or feel. Remind what is faith again? So you see how deep this emotion is.

When Fear Becomes Rebellion

Think about the story of the twelve spies in Numbers 13. God had already spoken: “Go up and possess the land I am giving you.” But when the spies returned, ten of them came back with fear in their hearts. They said,

“Yes, the land is beautiful and rich, but there are giants there. We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and so we were in theirs.”

Because of their fearful report, the entire congregation became afraid. They cried, murmured against Moses, and doubted God’s promise. Their fear led them into rebellion and death, for many of them died in that process.

They refused to go where God had told them to go. They chose to believe what they saw over what God had said. That’s what fear does, it shifts your focus away from God’s Word and onto your circumstances. It whispers that God’s promise isn’t enough. It makes you doubt His faithfulness and question His power. You focus on your insufficiency, forgetting you can do all this through Christ.

You Were Not Given the Spirit of Fear!

That’s why fear is dangerous because fear leads to rebellion. Fear makes you disobey. But thank God for His truth! He has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). You have the mind of Christ. You carry His Spirit within you.

So, whenever fear tries to creep in, remember who you are. Fear has no part in you. Take the posture of Faith.

Keep your eyes on Jesus. Keep your heart in His Word. Move from faith to faith and from glory to glory because everything God has spoken concerning you, He will walk with you to bring it to pass! Hallelujah💃
